A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, pianist Santiago Piñeirúa is one of the young stars of the Latin American music scene. The winner of numerous piano competitions in his native Mexico, he has worked with renowned orchestras and conductors at major festivals in countries including Mexico, the U.S., Spain, France, England, Italy, Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina. Maestro Piñeirúa comes to Albuquerque for the first time to offer a program combining the classicism of a sonata by W.A. Mozart with the monumental proportions of F. Chopin’s 24 Preludes and the more contemporary sound world of Samuel Zymman, a Mexican composer who teaches at New York’s Juilliard School of Music. Presented in partnership with La Fundación (Mexican Education Foundation of New Mexico).
