Screening of Documentary Farming While Black
Directed by Mark Decena, 2023, 75 min
Farming While Black examines the historical plight of Black farmers in the United States and the rising generation reclaiming their rightful ownership to land and reconnecting with their ancestral roots.
Screening is followed by a panel discussion with New Mexico Black farmers. Alyssa Frye is a community organizer, holistic health advocate, and nomadic earthworker. Shahid Mustafa is the founder of Taylor Hood Farms and Board Vice President of the New Mexico Agrarian Commons. Eugene Pickett is Chairman Founder of Black Farmers and Ranchers.
