2024 AfroMundo Festival: Historic Rebel Women. Screening of Queen Nanny: Legendary Maroon Chieftainess.

This film documents the military genius of Nanny of Jamaica, one of the most successful yet least recognized heroines of slave rebellions.
The screening is followed by a panel discussion of inspiring, historic rebel women. Panelists include Ronald D. Cummings, Jamaican Maroon Scholar; Natasha Gordon-Chipembere, Costa Rican author of award winning historical novel Finding La Negrita; Diana Carolina Angulo Ramirez, co-author of “Unveiling the past: Enslaved Lives Matter,” and Belinda Deneen Wallace, UNM Associate Professor of Caribbean and African Diasporic literatures, Afrofuturism, Queer Studies, and more.
