Relatos de la Resistencia: Buscando un lugar en el mundo
The young director Pedro Speroni debuted in feature-length documentaries with Rancho (2021), where he already demonstrated his sensitivity in approaching the very delicate reality of people who are incarcerated. The personal relationship he established with Iván, a prison inmate, in that first film allowed the filmmaker to accompany him on his life journey after leaving prison and reuniting with his family and his life. Currently, director Pedro Speroni is working on Talía, a woman he has also accompanied in his life inside and outside the penitentiary, with which he will finish his trilogy on the world of the prison.
Synopsis: Iván Bilbao returns home, to the city of Chascomús (Argentina), after having spent five years in prison. His wife, Yamila, and his little daughter, Luz, are waiting for him. Pedro Speroni’s camera infiltrates this family trying to return to normality, almost as if it were an invisible character, and shows that the return is anything but easy.
Screening: Los Bilbao | Director/s: Pedro Speroni | Year: 2022 | Format: Digital | Running time: Largometraje – 74 min | Genre: Documental | Country: Argentina | Original version: español | Subtitles: inglés, francés, portugués (de Brasil), italiano, español | Rated: SC
Relatos de la Resistencia: Buscando un lugar en el mundo, the strength of documentary filmmaking in Spain is a phenomenon with three decades of history. The work of the monographic festivals has been crucial to maintain its strength and validity among the public interested in the new expressive forms of cinema, but also among those who seek in the documentary to know the perspective and experiences of others, often very distant spatially, temporally, and culturally.
In collaboration with the DocsBarcelona festival, this online film series that stars the month of April on our Vimeo channel brings together four documentaries that allow us to meet people whose lives are marked by adventure, and not always in its most positive interpretation. In addition, the direction of these works tells us about the place from where we elaborate the stories of loss, but also those of survival and overcoming.
