Domingos en Arte, the summer music and dance series presented by MelazaMusic and the National Hispanic Cultural Center, is now in its fourth season, with concerts scheduled through August. We have invited a wide range of Latin artists for family-friendly summer Sundays that feature live music, drinks, and delicious Latin cuisine in the NHCC’s enchanting Fountain Courtyard.
On August 4, the new cross-cultural musical ensemble The Juani de la Isla Quartet, founded by acclaimed flamenco guitarist Juani de la Isla, explores the fusion of rhythm and melodic junctures among flamenco, Latin music, and Latin jazz in a genre-spanning performance. Juani de la Isla, highly praised in Spain as a flamenco accompanist and soloist, has recorded over 150 albums with artists worldwide. The ensemble also features Latin jazz pianist and violinist Dr. Mariano Morales, from Puerto Rico; Cuban-born bassist Yosmel Montijo; and Latin Grammy-winning percussionist and cajón player Diego “El Negro,” from Venezuela.
