Working in the media of painting, sculpture, performance, and, most importantly, piñatas, Justin draws from art history, popular culture, and his Guatemalan/Mexican heritage. His work has been exhibited across the United States in notable shows at venues including the Petersen Automotive Museum and the Denver Art Museum.
Come admire his process and watch his installation come to life! Justin will be working periodically Monday through Friday. If you want to know if he will be working when you are planning a visit, call 505-246-2261.
In addition, piñata sponsors will have an opportunity to attend a meet and greet with Justin on Friday, August, 18. If you would like a chance to talk to him about his work, there’s still time to sponsor a piñata! Contact curator, Jadira Gurulé at jadira.gurule@state.nm.us.
The NHCC Art Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission fees are $6 for adults (17+) and $5 for NM residents (17+). Admission is free for youth (16 and under), NHCC Foundation members, seniors (60+) on Wednesdays, veterans and US active duty military personnel between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and NM residents on the first Sunday of each month.
