Arte Poquito: Baila de Bebé

10:00 am Infants 0-18 months and their caregivers explore arts through traditional NM dance and other dance forms using ribbon sticks, rhythm instruments, and even flamenco.  Arte Poquito is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for infants ages 0 to 18 months and caregivers that nurtures creativity and provides bilingual introductory arts experiences balanced with social interaction. Each program focuses on different aspects of Hispanic/Latine arts, including music, dance, and storytelling. NHCC instructors model the introduction of core arts concepts to infants and caregivers in a supportive environment.  (more...)

Explorar las Artes: Baila Conmigo

10:00 am Children 18 months to 4 years and their caregivers will have the chance to explore arts through traditional New Mexico dance and other dance forms using ribbon sticks, rhythm instruments, and even flamenco.  Explorar las Artes is a free, bi-monthly 45-minute program for toddlers ages 18 months to 4 years and caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Student Outreach: UNM John D. Robb Musical Trust with Alex Manzanares’ Ballet Folklorico Santa Fe

9:00 to 10:00 am In partnership with the UNM's John Donald Robb Musical Trust we invite school groups and the community for a free performance and demonstration led by Alex Manzanares and members from Ballet Folklorico Santa Fe in our Bank of America Theatre. 2:30 pm- Pre-concert discussion and dance lessons 3:00 pm- Concert begins Join us on Sunday, Nov. 13 for a celebration of the regional folk traditions of New Mexico, presented in collaboration with the UNM John Donald Robb Musical Trust. The 9th Annual John D. Robb, Jr. Concert: Música del Corazón will feature performances of Baroque Fandangos of New Spain and Historic Fandangos of New Mexico. 1:30 to 3:30 pm New Mexico Folk Dance will feature 4 weeks of traditional New Mexico music with dance classes such as La Marcha. Classes run for four consecutive Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. New Mexico Folk Dance is part of the NHCC’s Siempre Creativo program, which provides a free multidisciplinary arts program for seniors. Free Community Event, generously supported by AARP New Mexico. New Mexico Folk Dance Classes for Seniors

PNM Rehearsal Hall 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM, United States

1:30 to 3:30 pm New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors will feature four weeks of traditional New Mexican folk dance lessons, including the traditional La Marcha dance, taught by instructor Lucy Salazar. Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays in October and November, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. On the day of the final class, live music will be provided by La Rondalla for a fun-filled dance fiesta!
