5:30 pm Renowned ballerina Alisha Brach, a New Mexico native currently with the Royal Danish Ballet will be joined by professional dancer Da’von Doane of the Dance Theater of Harlem, New York, for an evening of choreographed works featuring solo, pas de deux and ensemble pieces. Ms. Brach and Mr. Doane will be joined by members of local ballet companies for the program finale. Pre-performance reception and “Meet the Artists” post performance reception. ¡Baile! Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class

6 pm to 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm to 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. Domingos en Arte: Baracutanga

7:30 pm Baracutanga is a seven-piece band representing four different countries (Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, USA) that prides itself on arranging traditional South American rhythms in new and interesting ways, such as huayño and cumbia with Middle-Eastern darbuka or mixing Afro-Cuban bata and Afro-Peruvian festejo with Andean zampoñas, among several other rhythmic combinations. This kind of experimentation, coupled with blending ancestral traditions with a modern sensibility, has resulted in an exciting and distinct Latin flavor all its own that leaves dancing crowds always wanting more. Ballet Folklórico de Mexico de Amalia Hernández

7:30 pm Ballet Folklórico de México was formed in 1952 by the dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández. For six decades it has presented dances that reflect the traditional culture of Mexico, including indigenous Mesoamerica. The ensemble performs three times weekly at the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Additionally, it has toured widely and has appeared in over 80 countries, including a private performance at the White House for President and Mrs. Kennedy and command performances at the feet of the Sphinx in Egypt, bringing the (more...)
