    2 pm The 4th Annual South American Folk Festival seeks to unite Albuquerque’s South American community in a day of cultural experience and connection through music, dance, and food. In addition to food vendors from participating countries, the festival will feature traditional dancers from Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador.   • Domingos en Arte: Lone Piñon and Lenore Armijo

    7:30 pm Lone Piñon is an acoustic conjunto from Northern New Mexico whose music celebrates the diversity and integrity of their region's cultural roots.   • Remember the Time

    7 pm Music has always been an integral part of the history of Barelas, and many of New Mexico’s well-known musicians have come from this community. In 2012, the NHCC partnered with the Barelas Coffee House to present the Rock ‘n’ Soul Show and Revue, then in its seventh year.  This event, showcasing great rock, soul, R&B and New Mexico rancherita tunes from the 1960s through the 1980s, recreated the touring shows performed in legendary Albuquerque venues during those years and provided a forum for the reunion (more...)

  • Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto and Baracutanga

    7:30 pm Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, a traditional folkloric cumbia group from Colombia’s Caribbean region, has been active since 1940. Their music preserves the traditional rhythms and sounds that are the product of a mixture of Indigenous, Spanish, and Afro-Colombian heritage. Dating back at least to the time of Bolivar, gaitero music is played on two flutes (gaitas) and a maraca, both of Indigenous origin, and drums of African origin, through the descendants of the many African slaves who passed through the country’s Caribbean coast.
