    5 pm to 7 pm Día de Muertos is an annual traditional holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and many Hispanic communities. Join the NHCC and experienced, knowledgeable local artists to learn about the meaning of this celebration, the traditional arts and crafts associated with the celebration and development of ofrendas that honor families and individuals. The National Hispanic Cultural Center will hold its annual Despedida to celebrate Día de los Muertos with music, poetry and hands-on art making at this time-honored community gathering.   • Shoes for the Santo Niño

    6:30 pm to 8:30 pm The NHCC Library would like to introduce you to its recently acquired Latin Dance Book Collection, made possible through a grant from the New Mexico Library Foundation. Join us Tuesday December 5th from 6:30-8:30 pm to view the books, make free photocopies from the collection, and enjoy a dance demonstration by the Rueda505 dancers at 6:45 pm.     10 am Festival Ballet Albuquerque and the NHCC, with choreography by Patricia Dickinson Wells, present The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment. This beloved holiday classic comes to life in the late 1800s in territorial New Mexico, with many surprises including Spanish and flamenco dancers, dancing southwestern snakes, sheep and shepherdesses, hummingbirds, a lively fandango, and a storyteller doll with children.     6 pm to 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm to 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn.
