Maravilla provides direct support to the NHCC and its Foundation to promote, preserve and advance Hispanic arts, culture and humanities, while providing a unique cultural experience to attendees. 10 am to 5 pm Celebrate the NMJACL’s annual fall festival Aki Matsuri on Sunday, September 17th featuring Japanese cultural exhibits, vendor fair, musical demonstrations, Japanese art, Japanese food, Beer and Sake tastings and more! The New Mexico Japanese-American Citizens League (NMJACL) has been hosting Aki Matsuri (trans.: fall festival) for over twenty years. The festival is the main annual event for NMJACL and serves as a venue to share Japanese and Japanese-American (JA) culture with all of New Mexico. This mini-fest features two of our regular performers doing short sets as a way to introduce the kids to some cool different cultures. This year the participating bands are Trad.Attack! 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment.
