DESCRIPTION:2:30 pm- Pre-concert discussion and dance lessons\n3:00 pm- Concert begins \nJoin us on Sunday\, Nov. 13 for a celebration of the regional folk traditions of New Mexico\, presented in collaboration with the UNM John Donald Robb Musical Trust. The 9th Annual John D. Robb\, Jr. Concert: Música del Corazón will feature performances of Baroque Fandangos of New Spain and Historic Fandangos of New Mexico. The performers are as follows: \n\nNoe Garcia Jacinto ~ Spanish and Baroque Guitar\, with choreographer and dancer Carlos Menchaca.\nA special presentation of the 2022 Robb Award for Excellence in Southwestern Music.\nLone Piñon ~ Orquesta Típica featuring Jordan Wax\, Tanya Núñez\, Karina Wilson\, Santiago Romero\, with two couples from Alex Manzanares’ Ballet Folklórico Santa Fe.\n\nFree Community Event. Tickets will be made available one hour prior to the performance for this event. \n \nFandangos are an intercultural tradition of intertwined music\, lyric\, and dance that spread to the most remote\ncorners of the colonies of Spain by the year 1700. Over the next three centuries\, they evolved into venues of\nresistance\, empowerment\, and liberation. Fandangos are also celebrations for special occasions and saints’ day\nfeasts. In colonial New Spain\, all social sectors participated\, from village fiestas to royal courts. Baroque and\nClassical Spanish composers like Santiago de Murcia reintroduced these Mexican musical traditions back to Spain.\nThe first nineteenth century American visitors to California and New Mexico danced in and wrote about\nfandangos with great enthusiasm.

He danced featured roles in over 40 ballets\, of which more than 35 were created for him. The author of Every Step You Take and the subject of the documentary Water Flowing Together (the name of his Navajo clan)\, Soto teaches partnering and technique classes at the School of American Ballet\, where he has been a permanent member of the faculty since 1996. \nSacred Journeys IV brings together the rich and diverse culture of our state\, while providing extraordinary role models for New Mexico’s youth. \nSACRED JOURNEYS IV: The Live Performance Recording was honored to be screened in 2021 at the Red Nation International Film festival and the American Indian Film Festival.

SUMMARY:Festival Flamenco Alburquerque 36: Patricia Guerrero y Compañía: Deliranza
DESCRIPTION:8:00 pm \nSponsored by TourSpain \nFestival Flamenco Alburquerque 36 presents Patricia Guerrero y Compañía in Deliranza. Winner of the 2021 Spanish National Dance Prize\, the prodigious young dancer and her company immerse audiences into a performance of a thousand dreamlike adventures. \nIn Deliranza\, Guerrero sets a work in a time conducive to creation and reverie: rehearsal time\, where the creator\, exhausted by the hours of work\, rests and\, like Alice\, falls into a dream that makes her cross the limits of the everyday world. She breaks with logic enters into new\, transformative worlds. As she descends into dreams\, she encounters characters and obstacles\, but above all the sounds of flamenco\, the Soleá\, the voice of a Granaína/Bulería or a Mariana… inviting the viewer to imagine and explore the sometimes lonely but gorgeous and dreamlike process of creation. \n$50\, $65\, $80\, $95 \nRun time: 90 min
