Everyone is encouraged to bring their bike for minor repairs! Story Riders will host a bike clinic. \nExpress your love of the earth through poetry and take a poetry walk with the New Mexico Poetry Society. Art activities include plein air painting on the bosque and other nature-inspired projects that connect art and science. Tierra Adentro Charter School Dance Ensemble will present a flamenco pre-film performance. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist\, most recently recognized in 2019 at Santa Fe Spanish Market. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions. We hope you will join us every month on the fourth Tuesday\, on zoom or in person. Each gathering in this series will focus of a different cultural aspect of the question: “Who or what is Latinidad?” Voces de Latinidad aims to feature unique voices from our community culminating in a short documentary and digital archive celebrating the rich diversity of our lived experiences. \nRecently featured in a New York Times article\, this first gathering will be led by UNM Professor of Spanish as a Heritage Language\, Damián Vergara Wilson\, PhD. \nFree community event. DESCRIPTION:11:00 am (MST) \nThe National Hispanic Cultural Center is offering a guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco created by artist Frederico Vigil. Tours of the fresco are offered Thursdays and Fridays at 11am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus\, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture\, history\, and identity. \nAdmission for the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase below. Tickets can also be purchased in the New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center\, depending on availability. Capacity for each tour is limited. \nA Vision of History through Fresco… \nMundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4\,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. \nThe digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a sharing and learning experience for students and families anywhere. DESCRIPTION:6:00 pm to 8:00 pm \nNHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting. This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out\, a unique date night option\, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase from La Fonda del Bosque and Pop Fizz. Explore printmaking inspired by the current NHCC Art Museum exhibit\, Nexo Entre Raíces / Nexus Between Roots.
