Domingos en Arte: Ivón Ulibarrí & Café Mocha

6 pm Domingos en Arte, the summer music and dance series presented by MelazaMusic and the National Hispanic Cultural Center, enters its fourth season beginning in June, with additional concerts scheduled through August. ¡Baile! Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class

6 pm to 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate – This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm to 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced – In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. 7 pm Join us for the Albuquerque premiere of Cody Edison’s En Donde los Bailadores Se Entregan los Corazones, a music documentary celebrating the New Mexico string band Lone Piñon. Through relationships with elders, study of archival field recordings, and connections to parallel traditional music and dance revitalization movements in the U.S. and Mexico, Lone Piñon has brought the language of New Mexico traditional music and related regional traditions back onto the modern stage, back onto dance floors, and back into the ears of a young generation. No experience is necessary to participate in this class. 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm—Advanced Class In order to participate in this class, dancers must come to at least one 6 pm class and be familiar with the vocabulary and movement introduced in these classes.
