Festival Ballet Albuquerque Presents The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment

Chispa: From Havana to Lima

8 pm From the Caribbean to South America, folkloric music is rich in history and tradition that derives from the impact and presence of African rhythms. For decades, these rhythms have left an indelible imprint on music around the world. When American jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie first started incorporating these Afro-Latino rhythms in the 1940s, a new musical art form was born, Latin Jazz. 7:30 pm David Bromberg is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. An eclectic artist, he plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country and western, and rock and roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics and his ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time. Bromberg has played with many famous musicians, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, Rusty Evans (The Deep), and Bob Dylan.
