In 1961, over 250,000 Cubans joined their country’s National Literacy Campaign and taught more than 707,000 other Cubans to read and write. Almost half of these volunteer teachers were under eighteen years old, and more than half were women. Cecilia López, a talented Mexican-American opera soprano known as "The Daughter of Idaho," was born in Rupert, Idaho but currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. AMP Concerts: Los Gaiteros & Madalitso Band

7:30 pm AMP Concerts and the NHCC Present Los Gaiteros & Madalitso Band Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto was established in Colombia in the mid 1950s. In 1968, they performed at the Olympic Cultural Games in Mexico.
