Latinx Games Festival 2024

Session Times TBD Latinx Games Festival is a celebration of Gaming, Latino Culture and Latin American Game Development! Join us In-Person at the National Cultural Hispanic Center from September 20th - September 22th, 2024. Featuring insightful panels, playable Latino made video games, career advancement opportunities, the first ever Latino Games Exhibition, and The Latinx Game Awards, this festival connects our community to the video game industry and plants the seeds for a culturally richer, more mature video game industry. Noche de Familia: Bless Me, Ultima

5:00 – 7:00 pm (Film screening held immediately following) Join us for a Noche de Familia inspired by Rudolfo Anaya's beloved novel Bless Me, Ultima! Craft a flapping owl hand puppet, design a drawing inspired by the novel, and use herbs or leaves to emboss clay creations. Free books and coloring books will be available. All ages and individuals will be welcome. After this event, stick around and settle in for a free screening of the movie in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre! Latina Equal Pay Community Liftoff

8:30 am Ahead of the NHCC's Latina Pay Day celebration, head to the Center for a hot air balloon launch and remarks from community leaders in support of raising the pay. The liftoff event will be held on the NHCC’s majestic Plaza Mayor!  Free Community Event. 

Latina Equal Pay Day 

NHCC Campus 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM

11:00 am to 3:00 pm Join us for a celebration of Latina Equal Pay Day at the NHCC. This day, which recognizes the gender and racial pay gaps that still affect Hispanic women in the workforce, will feature a Women’s Art Market, interviews with Latina leaders, bookmaking, scavenger hunts, and more at the Center.  Free Community Event. 

Balloon Fiesta Torreón Tour

11:00 am During the week of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the Center will be hosting additional weekend guided tours of the dramatic Mundos de Mestizaje fresco by Frederico Vigil. These additional tours will be held on the first two Saturdays of October at 11 am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity. Diwali Festival of Lights 2024

5:00 pm NHCC | Albuquerque Journal Theatre The INDIA Association of New Mexico presents the Diwali Festival of Lights 2024. Diwali is one of India's biggest Hindu festivals, celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness. The festival lasts five continuous days, and the third day is celebrated as the main Diwali festival or ‘Festival of Lights.' Different colorful varieties of fireworks are always associated with this festival. On this auspicious day, people light up diyas and candles all around their house.
