    6-7:30 pm Tuesdays, January 21, 28, and February 4 Join us for our second year of “Inside Opera”—a workshop series presented by the NHCC in partnership with Opera Southwest.  This year the opera is “Il Postino” and each workshop will focus on a different element of the performance (see below).   • NM Jazz Latino Orchestra

    8 pm In their fourth performance at the NHCC, the New Mexico Jazz Latino Orchestra will present a two-part show featuring Latin jazz, cha cha, salsa, and rumba and showcasing the versatility of the group’s musicians. The 13-piece ensemble seeks to highlight the great musical talents of New Mexico residents, while bringing in international guest artists to introduce audiences to traditional instrumentation and rhythms from Latin America and demonstrate how jazz fusion can provide a harmonious and exciting blend of ancestral and contemporary tones.   • NHCC & Opera Southwest Present Daniel Catan’s Il Postino

    February 2, 7 & 9, 2020 2 pm—Sundays 7:30 pm—Friday Opera Southwest presents Daniel Catán’s Il Postino, a fully staged opera with orchestra, sung in Spanish with both Spanish and English translation supertitles, and presented in two acts with one intermission. Presented in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Il Postino is based on the novel Ardiente Paciencia by Antonio Skármeta, as well as the film by Michael Radford. Frank Leto Musical Ventures and the NHCC continue their annual partnership to celebrate Carnaval at the Center with a festive and colorful evening of music, dance, and theatre, featuring the Odara Dance Ensemble and the musical group PANdemonium.
