  • Breathe, Barelas, Breathe: A Reading of Excerpts from a Trilogy of One-Act Plays

    6 pm Sunday, July 28, 6 pm at B. Ruppe Drugstore parking lot 807 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 Free food and drink followed by a reading of excerpts from the trilogy. This trilogy of one-act plays is written by Barelas resident playwrights Raúl Garza, Leonard Madrid and Mónica Sánchez, and inspired by the history, dreams and musings of one of Albuquerque's oldest neighborhoods. This trilogy has been developed with the support of Artful Life's El Puente/Barelas project and in partnership with the NHCC and Homewise. (more...)

  • Quintessence: 7th Annual Summer Choral Festival (Rental)

    3 pm in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre, with a 2 pm pre-concert lecture in the Wells Fargo Auditorium Quintessence: Choral Artists of the Southwest present a concert of works from their 7th Annual Summer Choral Festival.   • Breathe, Barelas, Breathe: A Staged-Reading of a Trilogy of One-Act Plays

    7 pm In the NHCC Wells Fargo Auditorium This will be a staged reading of the entire trilogy (90 minutes) followed by refreshments. This trilogy of one-act plays is written by Barelas resident playwrights Raúl Garza, Leonard Madrid and Mónica Sánchez, and inspired by the history, dreams and musings of one of Albuquerque's oldest neighborhoods. This trilogy has been developed with the support of Artful Life's El Puente/Barelas project and in partnership with the NHCC and Homewise.   • Domingos en Arte: The Juani de la Isla Quartet

    6 pm Domingos en Arte, the summer music and dance series presented by MelazaMusic and the National Hispanic Cultural Center, is now in its fourth season, with concerts scheduled through August. We have invited a wide range of Latin artists for family-friendly summer Sundays that feature live music, drinks, and delicious Latin cuisine in the NHCC’s enchanting Fountain Courtyard. No experience is necessary to participate in this class. 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm—Advanced Class In order to participate in this class, dancers must come to at least one 6 pm class and be familiar with the vocabulary and movement introduced in these classes. Instituto Cervantes has offered this series since 2010, presenting contemporary work by women filmmakers and focusing on women’s concerns and issues.
