12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The Neighborhood Project: Las Voces de Barelas Opening Reception

3 pm - 5 pm The Neighborhood Project: Las Voces de Barelas is a community art initiative by Working Classroom student artists under the instruction of guest teaching artist Adria Malcolm which set out to explore the people of the historic Barelas area through the mediums of environmental portraiture and feature-writing. The project aims to bridge the gap between otherness and commonality through the sharing of the most vital elements of an individual's story. 10:30 am to 12 pm A great morning of art-making for children of all ages and families of all sizes. A visit to the museum is included in this artist-led workshop. We will meet in the Creative Classroom in the Pete V. Domenici Building.
