Business Basics for Visual Artists

1:00 to 5:00 pm Business Basics for Visual Artists is an afternoon forum of information sharing & networking for Visual Artists. NHCC will offer three presentations from local art professionals who will provide artists with a sampling of opportunities with the City of Albuquerque, an understanding of how to successfully navigate the challenges of artist contracts and grant writing. Arte Poquito: Arte Conmigo

10:00 am Babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers will have a chance to explore visual arts and even visit the NHCC Art Museum. This multi-sensory program includes time for socializing and art exploration. Arte Poquito is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. 9:30 am on the 4th Tuesday of each month Our Colcha community Workshop is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Santa Fe Spanish Market. Visual Arts Museum: First Sunday Free Admission

10:00 am to 4:00 pm The first Sunday of every month the Visual Arts Museum is free to all New Mexico residents. We will be closed on January 1st so we are moving our Free Sunday admission to Sunday, January 8th. During this time, visitors are encouraged to explore the NHCC’s Visual Arts Museum art exhibitions.

Teoquiyaoatl (Sacred Portal): Performance and Installation by Angel Cabrales

8:00pm MST NHCC Plaza Mayor Join us for a performance and interactive art installation on the plaza with Fronteras del Futuro artist, Angel Cabrales! Teoquiyaoatl references a sacred portal through which the explorers of the parallel universe Axihuical breach the universal membrane and cross into this universe to greet the people of our world through dance. Created by Angel Cabrales in collaboration with Melissa Melpignano with music by Henry Van. Dance performance by Melissa Melpignano, Jenny Morales, Chris Delgado, and Jensen Springer.
