DESCRIPTION:10:00 am \nNHCC | Salón Ortega \nJoin Dr. Lillian Gorman for a community roundtable workshop\, titled ‘Charting the Future of New Mexico Spanish as a Heritage Language\,’ that dives deep into the stories of New Mexico Spanish and our roles in sharing and preserving it. \nAbout the Author: Dr. Gorman is an associate professor at the University of Arizona and serves Director of the Spanish as a Heritage Language Program in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.  Her research interests center around issues of language and identity within U.S. Latina/o/x communities and in U.S. Latina/o/x popular culture. Her interdisciplinary work also focuses on heritage language pedagogy and its intersections with bilingual education. SUMMARY:Colcha Community Stitch A-Long
DESCRIPTION:9:30 am in-person\n10:30 am Zoom \nOur Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha\, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style\, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist\, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions. Join us every month on the fourth Tuesday\, in-person at 9:30am and on Zoom at 10:30am. Everyone will have a chance to share what they are working on. \nPlease register below every month and we will email the zoom link to you.
