This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out\, a unique date night option\, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase. \nIn early celebration of World Collage Day\, join Elena Baca in a hands-on workshop using a variety of collage techniques and materials. We will begin with a quick collage game to loosen up and challenge ourselves. Participants will have a chance to create their own artwork to take home. DESCRIPTION:11:00 am \nIn addition to our regularly scheduled Thursday and Friday Torreón Tours\, the National Hispanic Cultural Center now has a newly added Saturday Tour on the second Saturday of every month. This is a guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco created by artist Frederico Vigil\, located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus\, depicting thousands of years of Hispanic culture\, history\, and identity. \nAdmission to the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase below. Tickets can also be purchased in the New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center\, depending on availability. Capacity for each tour is limited. \nA Vision of History through Fresco…\nMundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4\,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. \nThe digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a sharing and learning experience for students and families anywhere. DESCRIPTION:9:30 am in-person\n10:30 am Zoom \nOur Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha\, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style\, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist\, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions.
