Colcha Community Stitch A-long

9:30 am in-person 10:30 am Zoom Our Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions. Happy Arte Hour

Arte Para Chiquitos

10:00 am NHCC | Pete V. Domenici Education Building Arte para chiquitos is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC Museum, Performing Arts Center, and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. NHCC instructors model age-appropriate arts techniques that celebrate self-expression, build vocabulary, and strengthen both fine-motor and gross-motor skills in a fun environment. 1:30 - 3:30 pm Explore your cultural heritage at the NHCC with a free genealogy workshop as part of our Siempre Creativo program! These workshops will provide participating seniors with an opportunity to learn about the descendants of a person, their family, or evolution from an ancestor. Join us as we discover where we came from, where we have been and the complex interrelating parts of our familial ancestral lines. Saturday Special- Torreón Tour: Mundos de Mestizaje

11:00 am In addition to our regularly scheduled Thursday and Friday Torreón Tours, the National Hispanic Cultural Center now has a newly added Saturday Tour on the second Saturday of every month. This is a guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco created by artist Frederico Vigil, located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, depicting thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity.
