Salud y Sabor celebrates Mexico and Día de los Muertos
Domenici Education Building - Grand Hall11:30 am - 2 pm Free Family Fun Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC is a free event with food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. Happy Arte Hour is cancelled for the month of November but will resume on December 5, 2019. 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm On the first Thursday of the month, NHCC invites adults for artistic fun in a relaxed social setting, which includes snacks, refreshments, and beer & wine for sale from Pop Fizz. There Must Be Other Names for the River
NHCC-Newsletter-August-11-–-247 pm (doors open at 6 pm) 516 ARTS, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and UNM Art & Ecology Program artists Marisa Demarco, Dylan McLaughlin, and Jessica Zeglin present There Must Be Other Names for the River. This composition for six singers is based on streamflow data from the river known today as the Rio Grande. Each singer channels the river, representing a point where flows were observed and recorded.
