This is a fun and engaging docent and artist-led family program. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material. Siembra, Latino Theatre Season: The Season of La Llorona, School Day Event
NHCC-BOD-January-2020-MeetingBy Rudolfo Anaya 10 am Rudolfo Anaya, acknowledged as the foremost author of New Mexican Hispanic culture and folkways and acclaimed as the founder of modern Chicano literature, has written over 40 books and plays; this is his first play. His exploration of the Mesoamerican legend of La Llorona, the “Wailing Woman,” gives both historic and human depth to the well-known myth. Presented in partnership with Teatro Nuevo México. Salud y Sabor: Honduras
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM5:30 pm -- 7:30 pm Salud y Sabor, a partnership between the Agri-cultura Network, Street Food Institute, and the NHCC, is a free evening of food, art, and entertainment aimed at providing families with an opportunity to connect around nutrition, cooking, healthy lifestyles, and culture. Once a month, community members gather for cooking demonstrations using fresh, locally grown ingredients, as well as fun art activities for kids and adults, health screenings, and live entertainment. The Mari-Luci Jaramillo Collection Opening Reception & Exhibition
History and Literary Arts Building6 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center's Research Library and Archives is pleased to announce that the Mari-Luci Jaramillo Collection consisting of papers, photographs, scrapbooks, and ephemera documenting the illustrious career of the Honorable Mari-Luci Jaramillo, former Ambassador to Honduras; Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Latin America; civil rights activist; and educator, will soon be available for research and study. Indigenous Comic Con

From November 18 through November 20, the Duke City will welcome Indigenous artists, creators, and designers from the worlds of comic books, games, sci-fi/fantasy, film, and television to share their art and expertise with a general audience and the Native/Indigenous community. Awards Ceremony: Cervantes Drawing Contest for Students
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM3 pm to 4 pm Instituto Cervantes, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and the Education Office-Embassy of Spain present the awards for a student drawing contest to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote. Students in three age categories, ages 6-8, 9-11, and 12-15 were invited to submit original drawings depicting any subject matter relating to either Don Quixote or Miguel de Cervantes.
