SUMMARY:NHCC Fall Film Series: Plaza Catedral
DESCRIPTION:7:00 pm \nThe NHCC Fall Film Series features Hispanic filmmakers that preserve our stories\, promote our experiences and advance the vast cultural identity of our gente. This film series continues with Plaza Catedral (2021) on Thursday\, Nov. 13. \nAlicia had a “perfect life” and lost it. Her six year old son died in an accident she feels she could have avoided. Her grief is plagued by guilt\, which has made her disassociate from society\, from married life\, and from herself. She now lives in the old quarter of Panamá\, a rich colonial enclave surrounded by Panamá’s poorest neighborhoods. There she meets Chief\, a street-smart 13 year old who takes care of cars in front of her apartment and insists on getting paid for his job. Alicia keeps a safe distance from him\, until one night Chief arrives at Alicia’s apartment bleeding from a gunshot wound\, and begs her for help. Reluctantly\, Alicia lets him in. What she could not imagine is that by opening the door to Chief\, she would open the door to an unforeseen emotional bond. Caring for Chief makes her feel connected to life again\, and it hurts. \nFree Community Event. Please register using the link below.

SUMMARY:Cervantes Film Series: La mirada tabú. Asómate al interior: Pequeño
DESCRIPTION:12:00 pm MST\nAll the films can be seen in the link below:\nhttps://vimeo.com/showcase/la-mirada-tabu \nÁlvaro G. Company and Meka Ribera humorously present us with a moral dilemma in which parents confront their love for their daughter and the novel options of bioethics. It is one of the most transgressive works that have come to the festival La Mirada Tabú\, not only because of its subject matter\, but also because it gives voice to thoughts that many parents have had at some point and would never confess. \nSynopsis: When they are born they are beautiful\, almost perfect. But they grow up so fast… I wish there was a way to enjoy that unrepeatable age forever. Petit Toujour combines the latest advances in gene therapy and selective hormone blockade to extend your time with the most beautiful thing you have in the world\, your baby. [Source: Line up]. \nScreening: Pequeño | Director/s: Meka Ribera y Álvaro G.
