First Page to Last Page Reading of Bless Me, Ultima in the NHCC Art Museum

9 am to 8 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center will present a beginning-to-end reading of Rudolfo Anaya’s acclaimed novel, Bless Me, Ultima. The reading will take place in the NHCC Art Museum where an exhibition, La Ultima Exhibición, enters its final month. Over 40 dignitaries, New Mexico authors, youth, adults and elders (including school students) will read, each for 15 minutes, between 9 am and 8 pm. 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm The New Mexico Hometown Heroes: Hispanic Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients exhibit is a tribute to the six Hispanic Congressional Medal of Honor recipients who have received the highest honor that the United States government bestows for acts of valor and heroism. Over three Wednesday evenings, poet Valerie Martínez and conductor Oliver Prezant will lead you on a magical journey through the story, the libretto, the music, and the staging of this evocative work, which tells the story of María, a prostitute born in a poor suburb of Buenos Aires, who sleepwalks through life, death, the afterlife, and is reborn into “innocence.” The music, by tango legend (more...)

OSW is thrilled to present Piazzolla’s only opera in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
