Mundos de Mestizaje

12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. Domingos en Arte: Future Games

7:30 pm Get a sneak preview of the future of music as Albuquerque's youth take to the stage. The house band for the night is the Tierra Adentro Music Ensemble, under the direction of Cesar Bauvallet. They'll be joined by some of Albuquerque's most exciting young artists for an evening of original music and performance. This event has been canceled but we hope you will join us for another Because It's Time museum event. 5:30-7 pm During this FUNdraiser for the NHCC Art Museum, in the style of speed dating, participants will have the opportunity to have quick five-minute mini tours by artists whose work is currently on exhibit in Because It’s Time.  Snacks and a cash bar will add to the fun! This six-week series is a project of City Lore, a cultural center for the arts and humanities based in New York City. 6-8 pm Join us to celebrate the conclusion of our spring memoir writing workshop with a reading by Ymelda Baca, Patricia Clark, Evelyn Fernandez, María Leyba, Regina Manocchio, Steve Morrow, Elaine Reyes and Leanna Torres who will read excerpts from their memoirs in-progress. Domingos en Arte: Nosotros

They have twice been featured on NPR's Alt Latino, twice been named winners in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Competition, been awarded 11 NM Music Awards and have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music. Aziza writes, “I am often mistaken for someone else, someone who “looks like” me, or asked if my sister/brother/cousin is so-and-so.
