  • ¡Globalquerquito! – A mini-fest for Albuquerque School Kids

    10 am We'd like to let you in on a little secret. Each year, ¡Globalquerque! kicks off with a free concert for our local school kids. This mini-fest features two of our regular performers doing short sets as a way to introduce the kids to some cool different cultures. This year the participating bands are Trad.Attack!   • ¡Globalquerque! 2017

    4 pm ¡Globalquerque!, New Mexico's 13th Annual World Music & Culture Celebration, returns to the National Hispanic Cultural Center on September 22 and 23, 2017. This year's festival features three stages of music from five continents over two nights. Relax in the intimate courtyard setting of the Fountain Stage, enjoy larger bands in the state-of-the-art 691-seat Journal Theatre, or dance to groove-heavy world music on the Plaza Mayor’s outdoor Festival Stage.     7 pm This biopic/drama depicts the professional and personal life of surrealist Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, who lived a bold and uncompromising life as an artistic, political, and sexual revolutionary. The film chronicles her turbulent marriage to Diego Rivera and her political activism, as well as the lifelong, debilitating effects of the traumatic bus accident she suffered at age eighteen.   • First Friday: Docent Education and Conversation

  • National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (RENTAL)

    6 pm This all-ages free event includes an art show/spoken word, salsa dancing lessons, then dancing, and free food along with HIV education and testing. NLAAD is a national community mobilization and social marketing campaign that unites the Hispanic/Latino community in efforts to raise HIV awareness, promotion of HIV testing, prevention, and education; in addition to other critical health issues such as viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and tuberculosis (TB).   • ¡Vamos al Museo!

    10:30 am The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging docent and artist-led family program. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material. Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V. Domenici Education Building Messy Classroom.
