Circo Radical “Las Memorias de las Lobas”

5:30 pm Presented by Nusenda Credit Union, the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s  Circo Radical Ensemble is delighted to invite you to their original performance, “Las Memorias de las Lobas.”  This new, multi-generational circus performance is built by 10 advanced circus students along with 10 professional circus artists who work together intensively over 10 days to conceptualize, train, research, design, and develop new work using stilts, live music, juggling, aerials, clown and mask. “Las Memorias” is inspired by the legend of La Loba from the Pueblo people.  La (more...)

10:30 am to 12 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer free children’s programming during the summer. During June, July, and first Saturday in August, families will be able to come to the Center on Saturday mornings for hands-on art activities, bilingual sing-alongs, outdoor activities in the Bosque and explore the science of cooking on a rotating basis. Domingos en Arte: Los Hacheros

7:30 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) Brooklyn’s Los Hacheros are modern-day torchbearers of the Golden Age of Latin music, reviving folkloric styles like son montuno, guaracha, and salsa, and often combining them with bomba, a fiery rhythm from the mountains of Puerto Rico. Their debut album Pilón was acclaimed for “…its solid arrangements and lively original songs have impressed old-school salseros and young music fans alike.” Their sophomore album, Bambulaye, was recorded live to vintage analog tape, giving it a raw, warm sound similar to that (more...)

Spanish Cooking Class-Tapas!

July 27 6 pm to 8:30 pm $35 per person Instituto Cervantes Albuquerque, in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Pop Fizz, again celebrates its monthly Spanish cooking class.  In July, attendees will have the opportunity to taste a variety of delicious tapas, thanks to our Spanish chef Chari Arellano. AMP Concerts Presents Over the Rhine (Rental)

7:30 pm After more than 20 years of making music, it's obvious that Ohio duo Over The Rhine is in it for the long haul. Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, named to Paste magazine's list of 100 Best Living Songwriters, began performing together in 1990 in local Cincinnati clubs and gathering places. Their first show drew about 20 people, most of them friends. Come have a blast working on your dance skills with Carlota Silva. Body isolation movements, reggaeton, and Latin Hip Hop on August 1 and August 8 7-8 pm in the Salon Ortega at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. All ages and all levels welcome. Carlota began dancing at the age of 2. She currently teaches jazz, hip-hop, tap, and contemporary dance at Fishback studio of dance.
