    12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas.   • Domingos en Arte: Son Como Son

    7:30 pm Son Como Son bills itself as "Salsa, Cuban Style." Founded in 1993, it is unquestionably one of Albuquerque's longest-standing and most popular salsa ensembles. They play regularly to packed audiences comprising highly animated and dedicated salseros at the NM Jazz Workshop's Salsa Under the Stars series; at the Cooperage; and at special concerts, such as those at the Telluride Jazz Festival.     5 pm to 6 pm Family and Friends Dance Class - On Tuesday nights in June and July, the National Hispanic Cultural Center is offering Latin American and Hispanic dance classes at 5 pm for families and friends. These classes will foster an intergenerational learning atmosphere. Bring your kids! Bring your grandparents! Bring your neighbors! Learning about the history and culture of the dances will be included. Some dances that may be taught include salsa, bachata, merengue, Mexican ballet folklorico, chachacha, casino, and more.     11 am This talk by Javier Benavidez, long-time community organizer in Albuquerque, is part of educational programming related to People Powered: New Mexicans and Social Movements. Javier works works in race-forward, social justice-oriented progressive causes aimed at reversing New Mexico’s long history of racism, colonization, and exploitation. His background includes directing the Southwest Organizing Project and also serving as speech writer for then-Congressman (now U.S. Senator) Martin Heinrich.
