DESCRIPTION:2:00 am (MST) \nIn this online film series\, which plays throughout the month of September on the Instituto Cervantes Vimeo channel\, we bring together\, in collaboration with the Punto y Raya platform\, four sessions with experimental pieces that allow us to explore the possibilities of the audio-visual image and abstraction as a form of creation: a freer creation\, where form\, color\, movement and sound compose evocative messages. \nThe short films will be available on the Cervantes Institute’s Vimeo channel for one week\, starting at 2:00 am on September 5. Cervantes Vimeo Link Here \nAbstracción en movimiento: Punto y Raya at the Instituto Cervantes \nTo commemorate the 100th anniversary of the emergence of abstract animation through what was known as “Absolute Cinema“\, in which European avant-garde visual artists such as Hans Richter\, “Viking” Eggeling or Walter Ruttmann sought to expand their pictorial practices using the incipient language of the cinematograph\, the first Punto y Raya workshop was held in June 2021. \nOrganized by the Cervantes Institute at its headquarters in Warsaw in collaboration with the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Techniques\, the Catalan animator and visual artist Aurora Gasull Altisent proposed to re-signify this beautiful practice through the eyes and hearts of hearing impaired children from the Głuchoniemych Institute in Warsaw. DESCRIPTION:5:00 to 7:00 pm \nStitch socially with us on the second Wednesday of the Month! Bring whatever knitting\, crocheting\, weaving\, or cross stitch\, or fiber art projects you’re working on\, and join the conversation with your fellow crafters for an informal craft get-together. If you would like to learn the basics of a particular stitching technique\, please bring supplies with you\, though we will always have basic crochet and knitting materials on hand for an impromptu demonstration! \nIn 2024\, we will meet on March 13\, April 10\, May 8\, June 12\, August 14\, September 11\, October 9\, November 13\, and December 11. \nMeetings will be in the Conference Room of The History and Literary Arts building from 5:00pm-7:00pm. \nFree Community Event. For young adult and adult audiences.

Please join us for our other Siempre Creativo dance programs for seniors by clicking HERE. \n1:30 – 3:30 pm \nLatin Dance for Seniors will feature 4 weeks of Latin dance lessons taught by instructor Carlota Silva. Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Latin Dance for Seniors is part of the NHCC’s Siempre Creativo program which provides a free multidisciplinary arts programs for seniors. \nA free Community Event\, generously supported by AARP. \nPlease register a maximum of 2 people for the Siempre Creativo art and dance classes to make space for everyone who would like to attend.
