Balloon Fiesta Torreón Tour

11:00 am During the week of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the Center will be hosting additional weekend guided tours of the dramatic Mundos de Mestizaje fresco by Frederico Vigil. These additional tours will be held on the first two Saturdays of October at 11 am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity. Poets from the 2023 New Mexico Anthology: Workshop

10:00 am - 12:00 pm You are cordially invited to celebrate the rich tapestry of New Mexico's poetic voices at the presentation of the New Mexico Poetry Anthology! Join co-editors and former poet laureates Michelle Otero and Levi Romero, along with select contributing poets, as they weave together a poetic tapestry evoking the diverse landscapes, cultures, histories, and poetic traditions that define our state. Early Childhood Bilingual Storytime

Siempre Creativo: New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors

1:30 - 3:30 pm New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors will feature 4 weeks of traditional Folk dance lessons, including the traditional La Marcha dance, taught by instructor Lucy Salazar. Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. On the day of the final class, we will dance to live music for a fun-filled dance fiesta! Colcha Community Stitch A-Long

9:30 am in-person 10:30 am Zoom Our Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions.
