Led by two different specialists with two distinct perspectives, it’s sure to have you seeing the artwork in new ways! 7 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) Grammy-winning Los TexManiacs, a conjunto band created by Albuquerque’s Max Baca in 1997, is joined by Grammy-nominated Mariachi Flor de Toloache, from New York. Los TexManiacs incorporates elements from genres including rock & roll and jazz, while still honoring the roots of Tejano conjunto; their album Borders y Bailes won the 2010 Grammy Award for Tejano Album of the Year. 7 pm The Sea Inside is based on the life story of Ramón Sampedro, a Spanish ship mechanic and part-time poet who was left quadriplegic and bedridden at the age of 26 following a diving accident. Sampedro fought a 30-year campaign for the legal right to end his life with dignity; despite his wish to die, he was able to inspire those who were close to him to live life to the fullest. 6 pm – 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm – 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn.
