Her life has always been “home, church, and work,” until she encounters a young Moroccan immigrant looking for a job. The filmmaker’s documentation of their evolving lives and relationship over the next several years addresses themes of immigration, globalization, and transformation, as well as the enduring value of working with the land. 8 pm Engine, from Argentina and France, presents Un día más sobre la tierra, a concert featuring violent and sophisticated guitars, overlapped by the raw voices of two actor-musicians. The songs, woven of Latin American rhythms and rock dynamics, punctuated by simple and powerful theatrical ruptures, poetically tell the story of an ancient device floating unseen over the skies of the world. ¡Vamos al Museo!

10:30 am to 12:00 pm The National Hispanic Cultural Center is pleased to offer children’s programming on the first Saturday morning of every month. This is a fun and engaging artist-led family program.  This month the artist will be Kenny Chavez. Families (limited to 25 participants) get a 30-minute museum tour focused on an art form, source inspiration, artist or type of material.  Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork in the Pete V. 24th Annual César Chávez Day

March—11 am Fiesta—12 pm Join the 24th annual César Chávez Day celebration, with a march—La Marcha de Justicia—beginning at 10:30 am at the Dolores Huerta Gateway Park, picking up additional participants at the National Hispanic Cultural Center at 11:00 am, and ending at noon on the NHCC’s Plaza Mayor. Following the march, the family fiesta at the Center includes poetry, dancing, community exhibits, children’s activities and games, food, a keynote speech by Dolores Huerta, and live music. Call for Involvement: Our Truth Project

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is taking on a project, supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, with the goal of giving value and meaning to the lived stories of our New Mexico community; bringing heightened awareness of racial divides and inequalities; and helping navigate ways to heal and move forward together through art. Our overarching plan is to facilitate community dialogues and then commission artists to share these stories through devised works, presented in meaningful and discussion-inducing ways.
