SUMMARY:Festival Flamenco Alburquerque 36: Patricia Guerrero y Compañía: Deliranza
DESCRIPTION:8:00 pm \nSponsored by TourSpain \nFestival Flamenco Alburquerque 36 presents Patricia Guerrero y Compañía in Deliranza. Winner of the 2021 Spanish National Dance Prize\, the prodigious young dancer and her company immerse audiences into a performance of a thousand dreamlike adventures. \nIn Deliranza\, Guerrero sets a work in a time conducive to creation and reverie: rehearsal time\, where the creator\, exhausted by the hours of work\, rests and\, like Alice\, falls into a dream that makes her cross the limits of the everyday world. She breaks with logic enters into new\, transformative worlds. As she descends into dreams\, she encounters characters and obstacles\, but above all the sounds of flamenco\, the Soleá\, the voice of a Granaína/Bulería or a Mariana… inviting the viewer to imagine and explore the sometimes lonely but gorgeous and dreamlike process of creation. \n$50\, $65\, $80\, $95 \nRun time: 90 min

SUMMARY:New Mexico Shakespeare Festival: Comedy of Errors
DESCRIPTION:7:30 pm \nBringing Shakespeare to Life in New Mexico! The New Mexico Shakespeare Festival believes that Shakespeare is for everyone – whether you’ve seen dozens of plays or none at all. You are invited to join them on the National Hispanic Cultural Center Plaza Mayor to enjoy a wonderful performance! \nComedy of Errors  |  Directed by Paul Ford \nFree community event. Tickets will be available at the event one hour prior to the performance. \n \nDirector’s Note: It could be argued that Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors has no socially redeeming value.  A very young William Shakespeare cobbled together his own take on several ancient Roman comedies – zapped it with a modern sensibility – wrote in better jokes – added more plot twists – and included a dash of his growing romantic brilliance – and voilà.  It’s all that and it is more. It is filled with mad-dash playful action interrupted by stand-up routines – mistaken identities and their hilarious consequences – melodramatic longing and joyous reunions. \nAt its heart\, is a play about the exuberance of youth. The Comedy of Errors does not shed new light on the human condition or plumb the depths of the human psyche. It throws a brilliant and playful spotlight on the simple follies of humble humans. It is a play about us.  How nice of Shakespeare to send us this giggling love letter 400 years ago. He knew we would open it with glee. \n\nThe event is a rental event not an NHCC production. Produced by David Garza (Fiona Apple\, Sparta) at El Paso’s Sonic Ranch\, the LP’s 11 songs are a unified blend of the members’ influences and ideas. Guests include J.J. But M.E. Baracutanga creates songs that cross linguistic and cultural barriers\, building bridges between the south and the north\, overcoming the barriers of discrimination and promoting intercultural experiences that empower Latinos and all people with a positive message of self-affirmation. \n

SUMMARY:Cervantes Film Series: Azaletik azalera
DESCRIPTION:12:00 pm MST (available for 48 hours)\nInstituto Cervantes Vimeo Channel Here \nCervantes Film Series: Zinegoak 20th anniversary. LGTBIQ+ Animation \nWith this award-winning short film\, Mel Arranz has managed to place himself within the interesting panorama of animation made in the Basque Country. His piece\, colored in various shades of black and white\, began to take shape during his artistic stay in Mexico and is a visual experiment: his short film manages to demonstrate a bodily intimacy through the detail shots of the touching of skins\, hardly representable in live-action cinema. \nFree Community Event \n \nThe Cervantes Institute maintains its program dedicated to LGTBIQ+ identities by collaborating with institutions and monographic festivals to make their film series more visible. This year\, the program dedicated to highlighting the celebration of LGTBIQ+ Pride Day comes from the Basque festival Zinegoak\, which celebrates its twenty years of existence with the presentation of an animated film series whose films address this theme on our Vimeo channel. Throughout four weeks\, we will see short films that showcase a wide range of identities and LGTBIQ+ collectives through the different techniques that animation provides\, and we will also have the opportunity to enjoy several short films by young creators from Basque Country. \nProgram\nJuly 4: Azaletik azalera (2021)\, by Mel Arranz\nJuly 7: La mesa\, (2018) by Adrian Garcia Gomez\nJuly 11: Beti Bezperako Koplak (2016)\, by varios cineastas\nJuly 14: Thara (2018)\, by Paco Ramírez y Tanya O’Carroll\nJuly 18: Dejarse crecer el cuerpo (2018)\, by Andrea Gudiño\nJuly 21: Ezohikoak (2022)\, by Alejandra Bueno\nJuly 25: Garelako (2015)\, by Usue Egia\nJuly 28: Makun (‘No llores’) (2015)\, by Emilio Martí

SUMMARY:New Mexico Shakespeare Festival: A Midsummer Night's Dream
DESCRIPTION:7:30 pm \nBringing Shakespeare to Life in New Mexico! The New Mexico Shakespeare Festival believes that Shakespeare is for everyone – whether you’ve seen dozens of plays or none at all. You are invited to join them on the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Plaza Mayor and enjoy a wonderful performance! \nA Midsummer Night’s Dream |  Directed by Julia Thudium \nFree community event. Tickets will be available at the event one hour prior to the performance. \n \nDirector’s Note: If Samhain or Halloween is the night\, where the veils between the living and the dead are thin\, in many cultures\, Midsummer is the night that the Faeries come out and play\, the night when you dance around the bonfire in the forest\, only to realize you are not dancing alone and when you open your eyes the next morning\, you’re not sure if what you experienced was real or simply a vision. \nThis performance is set in the magical moment between waking and sleeping – the slow surfacing from the depths of your dreamscape – the liminal space on the threshold of beginning. In order to have a beginning you need to have a before-time. It’s here where we find our Midsummer. The Italians have a word for this before-time: Dormiveglia\, the space that stretches between sleeping and waking. Not many people know this\, but it is in this place that the Faeries rule. Everything is possible in the moments you dwell here; the sweet\, the sad\, the irreverent and the ridiculous. If you know me\, you know I prefer the ridiculous over just about anything. \nLast year when I took on As You Like It\, I coined it the “Party Show” of the Festival. This year is something a little different. This year we are THE HEART show. I invite you to let yourself sink here in this moment in the no-time. Let yourself be enchanted and pause in the mystic doorway with us. \n\nThe event is a rental event not an NHCC production. The title\, content\, photos/images and description for this event were provided to the NHCC by the organization renting the NHCC venue for the event. By serving as a venue and posting the event on its website\, the NHCC is not endorsing any views expressed in the title or description of the event\, nor is it endorsing the content of the event.
