SUMMARY:Trupthi’s Academy of Dance and Music: Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Anagha Devarakonda
DESCRIPTION:5:00 pm \nNHCC | Albuquerque Journal Theatre \nTrupthi’s Academy of Dance and Music along with Ms. Lalita Devarakonda and Dr. Murthy Devarakonda cordially invite you to the auspicious occasion of the Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Anagha Devarakonda (Disciple of Trupthi Panickor). An Arangetram (meaning “ascending the stage”) is the debut solo performance of a Bharatanatyam dancer after years of training under the guidance of a guru. \n \nTrupthi Panickor (the Guru)\nTrupthi Panickor is a professionally trained Indian classical dancer with expertise in all major South Indian classical dance forms\, including Bharatanatyam\, Kuchipudi\, Mohiniyattam\, and Kathakali\, as well as Carnatic vocal music. She holds diplomas in both Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music and has undergone extensive training in the traditional theatrical art forms of Kerala. More information on Trupthi Panickor is available HERE. \nAnagha Nagasai Devarakonda (the Sishya)\nAnagha Nagasai Devarakonda\, daughter of Dr. Murthy Devarakonda and Ms. Lalita Devarakonda\, has spent her entire life in the Land of Enchantment. Her journey in dance began at the age of three\, inspired by witnessing a family friend’s Arangetram. That moment sparked a lifelong passion. At the age of nine\, Anagha joined Trupthi’s Academy of Dance and Music\, where she has trained for the past eight years under the dedicated guidance of her guru\, Ms. Trupthi Panickor. Through this transformative experience\, she has come to deeply appreciate the elegance and intricacy of Bharatanatyam. Dance has become a bridge to her cultural roots\, thousands of miles away\, and a new language through which she expresses herself. \nTrupthi’s Academy of Dance and Music is Albuquerque’s premier institution for Bharatanatyam\, committed to nurturing young dancers and preparing them for the profound journey toward their Arangetram for almost two decades now. The mission of Trupthi’s Academy is to preserve and promote the classical Indian art  by fostering disciplined practice\, artistic expression\, and cultural understanding among students of all ages. With a focus on excellence\, authenticity\, and cultural preservation\, the academy plays a vital role in passing this centuries-old tradition to the next generation of artists and audiences in the Southwest. \nTrupthi Panickor\, the Creative Director and founder of the academy\, proudly presents this Arangetram as a celebration of culture\, dedication\, and community. It is a heartfelt offering to the people of Albuquerque\, bringing the timeless beauty of Bharatanatyam to the local stage. \nFree community event. SUMMARY:Sandia Performing Arts: Anonymously
DESCRIPTION:August 15-17\, 22-24 & 29-31\, 2025\n7:30 pm Fridays & Saturdays\, 2:00 pm Sundays \nNHCC | Wells Fargo Auditorium \nSandia Performing Arts Company and the National Hispanic Cultural Center presents Anonymously\, a borderline comedic melodramatic farce. Our story focuses on a butch Hispanic female who has a soft spot for a co-worker but doesn’t want him to get the wrong idea\, so she sends flowers to him anonymously. Some people will go to great lengths to find out who sent those flowers. Before you know it\, everyone wants to know. \nWhile examining the universal human desire to be let in on a secret\, Anonymously also displays a Hispanic style featuring Lowriders and Pachucos. Spanish words are integrated with English\, and it creates a Spanglish. It should make some people see how hard it is to make sense of language. \n$25 w/ $2 discount for NHCC members and $15 for children 10 years old and younger \n \n\n*All NHCC performance/event ticket sales go through the National Hispanic Cultural Center Website. SUMMARY:NHCC Book Club: Nuclear Nuevomexico by Myrriah Gomez
DESCRIPTION:6:00 pm – 7:30 pm \nNHCC | HLA Conference Room \nThe NHCC invites lovers of literature\, folks who love to read\, and those who enjoy talking about the history and vast the array of identities that contribute to Latinidad/Hispanidad to join us! We will meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Center’s HLA Conference Room. \nThis month\, will be the rescheduled reading of Nuclear Nuevo México: Colonialism and the Effects of the Nuclear Industrial Complex on Nuevomexicanos by Myrriah Gomez. This book tells the story of the Manhattan Project\, and its displacement of Nuevomexicanas/os and Tewa people. Contrary to previous works that suppress Nuevomexicana/o presence throughout U.S. nuclear history\, Nuclear Nuevo México focuses on recovering the voices and stories that have been lost or ignored in the telling of this history. \nFree community event. Please let us know who will be attending by registering below.
