    NO ¡Baile! Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class classes tonight. Classes will return January 8, 2019. Happy Holidays!  6 pm to 7 pm Beginning and Intermediate - This class is geared for teenagers and adults. Come learn footwork, partner skills and choreography. No experience necessary. 7 pm to 8 pm Intermediate and Advanced - In order to participate in this class, dancers must know how to keep time, closed position calls, dame, enchufla, and outside turn. Hailed as "gospel titans" by Rolling Stone, the Blind Boys of Alabama first rose to fame in the segregated South with their thrilling vocal harmonies and roof-raising live show.     12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. The digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a (more...)

  • Eric J. Garcia: Presentation & Book Signing

    6-8 pm Known for mixing history with contemporary themes, Eric J. Garcia always tries to create art that is much more than just aesthetics. Born and raised in Albuquerque's South Valley, Garcia received his BFA with a minor in Chicano studies from the University of New Mexico, then went on to complete his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.   • 2020 Centennial of the Women’s Vote

    3 pm The NHCC, in partnership with the City of Albuquerque, will host a meeting of organizations and individuals who are planning events for 2020, the 100th year anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women's constitutional right to vote. The initiative will create a master calendar for 2020 that will co-promote events and minimize conflicts, supporting a robust year of programming celebrating this national milestone, its importance, and its resonance in contemporary society.
