    4:00 pm Authors and University of New Mexico professors Dr. Enrique Lamadrid and Dr. Susana Rivera present the latest collection of poems by E.A. "Tony" Mares: Reflections through the Convex Mirror of Time: Poems in Remembrance of the Spanish Civil War. They will be joined at the event by the four poets who wrote the back cover texts for this volume: Levi Romero, Demetria Martinez, Gary Brower, and Michael Thomas.   • Oralidad Festival: Lara Manzanares & Joe Hayes

    7:30 pm Lara Manzanares, a bilingual singer-songwriter with roots in Tierra Amarilla, will perform a joint show with master storyteller Joe Hayes. The performance will begin with a folk narration by Hayes aimed at adult and children, to be followed by a performance by the singer-songwriter. This show weaves together the past, present, and future of the oral tradition as well as the performers' passion for blending cultures and the roots of New Mexico.   • New Mexico Young Actors: The Jungle Book

    2:00 pm New Mexico Young Actors presents The Jungle Book, based on The Mowgli Stories by Rudyard Kipling. We follow the adventures of the “man-cub” Mowgli, a boy who was raised by wolves in a jungle in India. The Jungle Book features a cast of more that two dozen youth, and a small orchestra which includes a sitar. $14 The event is a rental event not an NHCC production.     6:30 pm The New Mexico Music Hall of Fame award show is to recognize those who have made significant contributions to our state's musical culture. The process of choosing these musical heroes begins each year with the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame Awards Committee asking New Mexico citizens to nominate artists and innovators who they thought should be so honored. Tours of the fresco are offered Thursdays and Fridays at 11am. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity. Admission for the tour is $2 and tickets are available for advance purchase below. Tickets can also be purchased in the New Mexico Mutual Welcome Center, depending on availability.
