5:00 - 7:30 pm Join us for a free public reception celebrating the opening of the exhibition, Voces del Pueblo: Artists of the Levantamiento Chicano in New Mexico, curated by Ray Hernández-Durán, Ph.D. and Irene Vásquez, Ph.D. This is an exhibition 7 years in the making that feature a group of New Mexican artists who were among the earliest generation of Chicana and Chicano activists in the state. Saturday Special: Torreón Tour: Mundos de Mestizaje

11:00 am The National Hispanic Cultural Center is offering a special Saturday guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco created by artist Frederico Vigil. Tours of the fresco are offered on Thursdays and Fridays at 11am. We will have a special Saturday tour instead of the Thursday tour on the second week of every month. Located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, Mundos de Mestizaje depicts thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity.
