Chispa: New Latin Music Series, Palenke Soultribe

8 pm Palenke Soultribe (PST), a live electronic production collective based in Los Angeles, deconstructs Afro-Colombian rhythms and blends them with modern beats, catchy bass lines, and synthesized arpeggios. Always pushing the envelope visually and conceptually, the group represents a new generation of Colombian musicians ready to break all the rules. Watch them in action HERE. 8 pm Festival Chispa, a celebration of New Latin music in partnership with Avokado Artists, presents Latin Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno and the incredible L.A.-based Latin alternative band Las Cafeteras. Born and raised in Guatemala, singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno was captivated in her youth by the sounds of the blues, soul, and jazz, and now calls Los Angeles home. 7:30 pm After more than 20 years of making music, it's obvious that Ohio duo Over The Rhine is in it for the long haul. Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist, named to Paste magazine's list of 100 Best Living Songwriters, began performing together in 1990 in local Cincinnati clubs and gathering places. Their first show drew about 20 people, most of them friends.
