Chispa: Latin Diva Series, Las Migas
Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts: Albuquerque Journal Theatre 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM7:30 pm Formed as a flamenco quartet in Barcelona in 2004, Las Migas now performs a repertoire of “Mediterranean music,” including lively Latin rhythms and pensive ballads. The members, Alba Carmona, Marta Robles, Alicia Grillo and Roser Loscos, come from four cities spanning both the geography of Spain and its cultural diversity—Barcelona, Sevilla, Córdova and Lérida. Chispa: New Latin Music Series: La Yegros
Roy E. Disney Center for Performing Arts: Albuquerque Journal Theatre 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM8 pm While La Yegros now lives in Buenos Aires, her family comes from the rural rain forests of northern Argentina, bordering Brazil. She received classical conservatory training in music, and made her professional debut performing before thousands with experimental theatre troupe De La Guarda. Her diverse repertoire includes tropical rhythms, Argentine folk, reggae, dancehall, soul, and Arabic music. Chispa: Pimentel Concert Series, Ronstadt Generations y Los Tucsonenses

Ronstadt (younger brother of Linda) and his sons, Michael G. and Petie D. Multi-instrumentalists and solo performers in their own right, they present an exciting repertoire that preserves the traditional Southwestern and Mexican songs of their heritage while offering innovative original material. Chispa: Antonio Reyna, Mis Primeros 20 Años

Reyna is a New Mexican treasure who is beloved throughout the Southwest and Mexico, and whose performances have influenced the trajectory of traditional mariachi music. Chispa: From Havana to Lima

For decades, these rhythms have left an indelible imprint on music around the world. When American jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie first started incorporating these Afro-Latino rhythms in the 1940s, a new musical art form was born, Latin Jazz. An eclectic artist, he plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country and western, and rock and roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics and his ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time. Bromberg has played with many famous musicians, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, Rusty Evans (The Deep), and Bob Dylan.
