DESCRIPTION:2:00 pm \nOpera Southwest Presents: The New Mexico Symphonic Chorus \nMozart – Mass in C Minor\, K. 427\nSymphony No. 40 in G Minor\, K. 550 \nTwo pillars of Mozart’s mature style: one sacred\, one symphonic. \nModeled on the grandeur of Bach’s Mass in B Minor and the Salzburg ceremonial tradition\, Mozart’s Mass in C Minor blends contrapuntal rigor with operatic brilliance. Though unfinished\, it stands among the most exalted sacred works of the Classical era. Paired with the storm-lit urgency of the G Minor Symphony\, this program reveals the expressive breadth of Mozart’s late style.
