This is a great opportunity for friends to hang out\, a unique date night option\, or a place to come solo and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase. \nThis month we will paint on watercolor paper using cochineal. Bring whatever knitting\, crocheting\, weaving\, or cross stitch\, or fiber art projects you’re working on\, and join the conversation with your fellow crafters for an informal craft get-together. If you would like to learn the basics of a particular stitching technique\, please bring supplies with you\, though we will always have basic crochet and knitting materials on hand for an impromptu demonstration! \nMeetings will be in the Conference Room of The History and Literary Arts building from 5:00pm-7:00pm. For young adult and adult audiences.

We apologize for any inconvenience. \n9:30 am in-person\n10:30 am Zoom \nOur Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha\, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style\, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist\, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette will demonstrate as well as answer questions. Join us every month on the fourth Tuesday\, in-person at 9:30am and on Zoom at 10:30am. DESCRIPTION:6:00 pm – 7:30 pm \nNHCC | HLA Conference Room \nThe NHCC invites lovers of literature\, folks who love to read\, and those who enjoy talking about the history and the vast array of identities that contribute to Latinidad/Hispanidad to join us! We will meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Center’s HLA Conference Room. \nIn June\, we will be reading The Five Wounds\, the debut novel by author Kirstin Valdez Quade. The story takes place in the small town of Las Penas\, New Mexico\, following the Padilla family. Amadeo Padilla will play the part of Jesus in the Good Friday procession\, but five generations of his own family’s wounds also need healing. \nFree community event.
