Inside Opera Series: Il Postino
NHCC-Newsletter-August-11-–-246-7:30 pm Tuesdays, January 21, 28, and February 4 Join us for our second year of “Inside Opera”—a workshop series presented by the NHCC in partnership with Opera Southwest. This year the opera is “Il Postino” and each workshop will focus on a different element of the performance (see below). Those who attend any one of the three workshops will receive a 15% discounted ticket to the show. ¡Baile! Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class
NHCC-Newsletter-August-11-–-246 pm to 8:15 pm 6 pm to 7:15 pm—Beginning and Intermediate Class. No experience is necessary to participate in this class. 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm—Advanced Class In order to participate in this class, dancers must come to at least one 6 pm class and be familiar with the vocabulary and movement introduced in these classes. Dance classes are taught by Larry Heard and Rueda 505 Friends. There is no need to pre-register; just show up in comfortable clothes ready to dance! For more information, call (more...)

¡Vamos al Museo!
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10:30 am to 12 pm Join us on the first Saturday of the month for a morning of art-making for children of all ages and families of all sizes. A visit to the museum is included in this NHCC staff and artist-led workshop. We will meet in the Creative Classroom in the Pete V. Domenici Building. This month, artist Lita Sandoval will guide a fun valentine themed workshop for all ages! ¡HAH! Happy Arte Hour 2020

This year, in the spirit of the NHCC’s 20th Anniversary, we have invited back some of the artists that have contributed to the success of Happy Arte Hour over the years. Many of these artists were part of past exhibitions or have pieces of art in our permanent collection. Mundos de Mestizaje
NHCC Torreón 1701 4th street SW, Albuquerque, NM, United States12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. The 4,000 square foot painting is one of the largest frescos in North America. The digitized imagery of the painting ensures that this culturally significant work can be a (more...)
