¡Baile! Casino (Cuban Salsa) Dance Class

6 pm to 8:15 pm 6 pm to 7:15 pm—Beginning and Intermediate Class. No experience is necessary to participate in this class. 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm—Advanced Class In order to participate in this class, dancers must come to at least one 6 pm class and be familiar with the vocabulary and movement introduced in these classes. Mundos de Mestizaje

12 pm to 5 pm A Vision of History through Fresco… Mundos de Mestizaje by Frederico Vigil is a mural housed in the Torreón on the campus of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. This monumental fresco depicts thousands of years of Hispanic history highlighting diverse cultural connections between people and places from the Iberian Peninsula to the Americas. 6- 8 pm (new time!) This year, in the spirit of the NHCC’s 20th Anniversary, we have invited back some of the artists that have contributed to the success of Happy Arte Hour over the years. Many of these artists were part of past exhibitions or have pieces of art in our permanent collection. A visit to the museum is included in this NHCC staff and artist-led workshop. We will meet in the Creative Classroom in the Pete V. Domenici Building. Mapitzmitl Xiukwetzpaltin (PAZ) Presents Tonal Machiotl/Piedra del Sol/Aztec Calendar

11 am This is the first of a series of workshops about the Aztec calendar, covering a range of subject matter pertaining to this indigenous timekeeping device that was rediscovered in Mexico City in 1790. It is an overview of the calendar; participants will be shown the meaning of the calendar’s different concentric rings, which are used to chart solar, ceremonial, and Venutian years.
