DESCRIPTION:7 pm \nConnect with your favorite Hispanic and Latine writers. \nFor the inaugural program of the Escribir | Escuchar: Hispanic and Latine Writer Series\, the National Hispanic Cultural presents award-winning and best-selling author Dr. Ana Castillo. Her notable works include the novels So Far from God\, The Guardians\, and Peel My Love like an Onion\, in addition to her poetry collection I Ask the Impossible. The celebrated and distinguished New Mexico escritora will be at NHCC’s Albuquerque Journal Theatre on April 7\, 2022. During this free event\, Dr. Castillo will be reading from her latest poetry collection\, My Book of the Dead\, followed by a book signing.  This series is generously supported by AARP and the University of New Mexico Center for Southwest Research. \nDon’t miss out on experiencing Hispanic and Latine literature at the NHCC. DESCRIPTION:8:00 pm Friday\, 2:00 pm Saturday \nYjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company proudly brings the creative visions of world-renowned flamenco artists to the American public\, while cultivating the living art of flamenco in the United States. Together with the Orchestra of New Spain\, Yjastros presents Quem Quæritis? A Flamenco Drama. This performance draws from the tradition of the pastorela\, told through imaginative\, dynamic flamenco performance. Yjastros dramatizes human ingenuity and resilience through intricate choreographic masterpieces by Artistic Director Joaquín Encinias\, Marco Flores\, and other choreographers. This season highlights tradition and innovation in the world of flamenco and features choreographies made by artists at the global forefront of the art form\, as well as unique musical accompaniment from the award-winning Orchestra of New Spain.
