    7 pm Eleven-year-old Chava suddenly becomes the man of the house after his father abandons the family in the middle of El Salvador’s bloody civil war, at a time when 12-year-old boys are forced by the national army to fight against the guerrillas. The film is based on screenwriter Oscar Torres’ own experiences of growing up in a mountain village in El Salvador during the war. Working Classroom’s theatre ensemble collaborates with Scott Barrow from Tectonic Theater Project and guest director/playwright Milta Ortiz from Arizona’s Borderlands Theater to create an immersive bilingual performance based on community interviews and dedicated to bringing a face and voice to educational inequity.   • Chispa: New Latin Music Series, Palenke Soultribe

    8 pm Palenke Soultribe (PST), a live electronic production collective based in Los Angeles, deconstructs Afro-Colombian rhythms and blends them with modern beats, catchy bass lines, and synthesized arpeggios. Always pushing the envelope visually and conceptually, the group represents a new generation of Colombian musicians ready to break all the rules. Watch them in action HERE. Baez performed with fellow artists and friends including David Bromberg, David Crosby, Damien Rice, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Mavis Staples, Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson, Judy Collins, Nano Stern, and Paul Simon.     7 pm A documentary about the 27 women who served in the Spanish legislature in 1977, promoting political change during Spain’s transition to democracy following the end of the Franco regime. Through their personal experiences, the film traces the history of women’s political involvement in Spain up to the present day, and includes a debate between these pioneering women, the “mothers of the constitution,” and women currently serving in the Spanish parliament.
