Afro Mundo: Liz Olivia Fernandez

We will show 30 minutes total of Uphill on the Hill and Hardliner on the Hudson. They are unreleased. Both docs are 30-40 minutes each but given an hour 20 minutes is generally too long for audiences; we'll show abridged and polished 15-minute segments of each. In Uphill on the Hill, award -winning Cuban journalist Liz Olivia Fernandez travels to Washington D.C., where she exposes the political interests driving the U.S. government’s Cold War-era policy toward Cuba. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught this art form to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. Arte Poquito
Domenici Education Building 1701 4th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM10:00 am Arte Poquito is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC Museum, Performing Arts Center, and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. NHCC instructors model age-appropriate arts techniques that celebrate self-expression, build vocabulary, and strengthen both fine-motor and gross-motor skills in a fun environment.
